Forma-I™ is a radiofrequency (RF) treatment that uses controlled, gentle heat around the eyelids to support meibomian gland function, improve oil flow, and promote a healthier tear film.

Lumecca-I™ is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment specifically designed for the delicate eye area. It helps reduce inflammation around the eyes and may improve meibomian gland function, tear film quality, and symptoms associated with dry eye.

Both treatments are non-invasive and performed in your physician’s office.

Forma-I™ uses gentle heat and massage to soften oils within the meibomian glands, making it easier for the glands to release their natural oils. This can help reduce tear evaporation and improve tear film stability.

Lumecca-I™ uses controlled pulses of light to help reduce inflammation around the eyes. It may also help reduce Demodex mites and bacteria around the eyelids.

Your provider will determine which treatment is most appropriate based on your individual needs.

The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your provider will recommend a treatment plan based on your symptoms, meibomian gland function, ocular surface health, and response to treatment.

A typical Forma-I™ treatment plan may include 2–5 sessions spaced approximately 2–4 weeks apart.

Lumecca-I™ treatment schedules will be customized to your individual needs.

Each treatment takes about 60 minutes, and is performed in-office by our certified staff members.

Forma-I™ is designed to feel like a warm massage around the upper and lower eyelids. You may hear beeping from the device during treatment.

Following the RF treatment, your provider may perform manual meibomian gland expression under the slit lamp. You may experience some pressure or a slight pinching sensation during this portion of treatment.

The treatment should not be painful. Let your provider know if you experience significant discomfort.

During Lumecca-I™, you will see a bright flash of light with each pulse. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick warm snap or rubber-band-like feeling.

You may also feel warmth in the treated area as the procedure progresses.

Both treatments are non-invasive and generally require little to no downtime.

After Forma-I™, the skin around the eyes may appear slightly red or puffy for a few hours.

After Lumecca-I™, you may experience temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling, or a mild sunburn-like sensation.

Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment and skin response.

You may experience mild redness or puffiness around the eyes for a few hours. In general:

• Stay well hydrated.
• Gentle moisturizer and makeup may be applied immediately.
• Contact lenses may be inserted immediately unless otherwise directed.
• Avoid irritating or active skincare products until your provider advises that they may be resumed.
• Avoid additional facial treatments until your provider has cleared you to resume them.

Your skin may appear slightly pink or flushed and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. Mild swelling may also occur.

For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:

• Hot showers directly on the face
• Saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs
• Intense exercise that causes significant facial flushing
• Excessive heat or friction
• Scrubs or irritating skincare products

Use gentle skincare and follow your provider’s specific instructions.

Yes. Sun protection is especially important following IPL treatment.

Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher as directed, avoid intentional tanning and prolonged direct sun exposure, and do not use tanning beds.

Results vary from person to person. Some patients may notice improvement after their first treatment, while others require multiple treatments to see meaningful results.

Your provider will determine the recommended treatment series based on your individual response and ocular health. Completing the recommended treatment series and maintaining your prescribed home-care routine are important for achieving the best results.

Both treatments are designed with patient comfort in mind. Forma-I™ typically feels like a warm massage, while Lumecca-I™ may feel like a quick warm snap with each light pulse.

Numbing eye drops are used during treatment to maximize comfort.

Forma-I™ and Lumecca-I™ treatments are performed right in our office. They do not require general anesthesia, incisions, or surgical intervention.
