Insurance Made Simple for Eye Care
There are two types of health insurance that will help pay for your eye care services and optical products: Managed Vision Care and Medical Insurance. Downtown Eyes accepts select insurance plans in both categories:
1) Managed Vision Care: Downtown Eyes only accepts Vision Service Plan (VSP) and most Eyemed plans. Managed Vision Care typically covers routine eye exams, along with eyeglasses or contact lenses. Vision plans do not cover medical eye care issues (the diagnosis, management or treatment of eye health problems such as dry eye, glaucoma, cataracts, etc…).Medical insurance must be used for medical eye care.
2) Medical insurance: We are in network with most medical insurance plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, Medica, Preferred One, Health Partners, Medicare, and many others but still encourage patients to call their insurance company to verify coverage prior to the appointment.
If you have both types of insurance plans, it may be necessary for us to bill some services to one plan and some services to the other. We will follow a procedure called coordination of benefits to do this properly and to minimize your out-of-pocket expense.
